About Me

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist (Western Australia) and I have over 30 years consulting experience in clinical, organizational, small business and in forensic settings. I am committed to new generation cognitive behaviour therapies that address issues of mindfulness and cognitive defusion (expanding attention to thinking and experiencing), acceptance, relationships and values. At the same time as an environmental psychologist I am also concerned with people in their environments, or the person-in-environment as the primary unit of analysis. For example, it is necessary to identify environmental features that can execerbate or minimize both psychological wellness as well as psychological problems on a variety of levels. Problems can only be understood by taking into account the environment in which they are embedded.

I am concerned to promote public debate concerning rural psychological health services and delivery as the rural spokesperson for the Australian Psychological Health Reform Network.

My qualifications are a Bachelor of Science (honours) from the University of New South Wales and I have post graduate qualifications from the universities of Sydney, Leeds (UK), Murdoch and an MBA from the University of Western Australia.

My major interests also include food and cooking. For the last 12 months I have embarked on art studies working in a semi-abstract expressionist style concentrating on landscapes.
